After a long break of blogging I am pleased to present the progress I have made with my portrait of the holy Father. Due to technical reasons I had to reduce the size of the painting to the detail shown above. As the sizing of the chalk ground has been slightly overdone, subsequent paint layers slipped off. I therefore had to sand the picture and then to temper it with a mixture of egg temper and oil colours.

However, as the actual size of the painting is now reduced to 20 x 15 cm, I could exhibit it in a Louis Seize Frame that I have purchased some years ago and that does extremely nice with the embroideries on the holy Father's mitre and chasuble.

Hope to post the next pictures within the next days.
